Social Service in Cocos Islands, Australia


Sept 27, 2005 - Malacca - Congratulation to Bro. Mohammad Khairol bin Khalid for being selected to be sent to Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Australia. He is expected to be our social activist there beginning March 2006. There is a Malays community overthere that need to be served in term of Fardhu Ain and Al-Quran teaching.

The Cocos (Keeling) Islands are located in the Indian Ocean at latitude 12°10' south and longitude 96°52' east. They are 2 950 km north-west of Perth 3 700 km west of Darwin and 900 km south-west of Christmas Island. There are twenty-seven coral islands in the group with a total land area of approximately 14 sq. km.

Saudi Arabia National Day



Sept 23, 2005 - Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur - GPTD Mecca led by Bro. Khairul Nizam Zainan Nazri (see picture: Bro. Khairul on the right chat with the Saudi Arabia National Day guest) attended Saudi Arabia National Day. This is one of the GPTD Mecca activities in order to understand the culture of Saudi Arabia people. GPTD is planning to continue their mission to Mecca this coming Hajj season on December.

The Ship For Southeast Asia - Japan Youth Program (SSEAYP)



Sept 24, 2005 - Kuala Lumpur - GPTD members should take an opportunity to join the program called "The Ship For Southeast Asia-Japan Youth Program" (SSEAYP). The Ship for Southeast Asia Youth Programme (hereafter refers as SSEAYP) was created by the respective joint statements issued in January 1974 among the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, and Japan.

The Programme is implemented by the Japanese Government through the Cabinet Office and by the active participation and cooperation of these Southeast Asian Countries.

This is among the good program to expose GPTD members into international stage and opportunity to do some international networking and dakwah work. GPTD coordinator, Bro. Briefing on GPTD in IIUM Gombak



Sept 22, 2005 - International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Kuala Lumpur - GPTD had been invited by the Lecturer of Social Work Subject, Bro Fauwaz Hasbullah to give a brief introduction on GPTD. Bro.Jufitri Joha, the GPTD coordinator present to give the briefing. GPTD been invited by them because it was related to their subject which compulsory to them to take it. Around 30 students were present to hear the briefing. Hopefully some of them who were interested in, will join GPTD as a new recruitment.

New Faces in GPTD Mecca



Sept 18, 2005 - GPTD Office, Kuala Lumpur - GPTD Mecca moved one step ahead by selecting a new recruitments into the group. There were 5 newcomers who are expected to assist GPTD project in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. They are now busy in preparing follow-up program especially during Ramadhan dan Hajj in Mecca, Madinah and Jeddah.

GPTD Volunteer Workshop 2005



Bertempat di Bilik Seminar 2, Bengkel Sukarelawan Muda GPM-GPTD telah diadakan pada hari Sabtu, 17 September 2005. Bengkel bermula pada jam 9.00 pagi dan telah dirasmikan oleh Pengurus Global Peace Mission (GPTD), En. Shirajuddin Sirat. Dalam ucapannya, beliau menekankan niat yang ihklas adalah asas dalam melaksanakan kerja-kerja kesukarelaan. Beliau juga mengingatkan, keredhaan Allah menjadi matlamat setiap tindakan. Selain itu, beliau turut mencadangakan, A-K-B (Apa?-Kenapa?-Bagaimana?) menjadi asas setiap tindakan bagi seorang sukarelawan.

Bengkel diteruskan dengan sesi ceramah oleh Mejar (B) Azlan Mohammad Sharif mengenai asas kesukarelaan. Mejar (B) Azlan telah menerangkan mengenai ciri-ciri yang harus ada pada seorang sukarelawan. Sesi diteruskan dengan tayangan video mengenai Palestin.

Selepas rehat, bengkel diteruskan dengan taklimat ringkas GPTD oleh Penyelaras Grup Pengkaji Tamadun Dunia (GPTD), Sdr. Jufitri Joha. Para peserta, Exco serta ketua projek GPTD turut memperkenalkan diri pada awal sesi ini.

Sdr. Jufitri memperkenalkan objektif dan fungsi GPTD sebagai unit sukarelawan muda GPM. Selain itu, beliau turut menerangkan mengenai projek-projek GPTD yang telah dan akan berjalan.

Para peserta berpeluang berkongsi pandangan masing-masing pada sesi akhir bengkel ini. Bengkel tamat pada jam 1.35 tengah hari.

Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI)






Pada 9-11 September yang lalu, telah diadakan Perkampungan Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam di Melaka Tropical Fruit Farm Sungai Udang. Di hadiri oleh peserta dari IPT tanahair serta perwakilan dari serata provinsi di Indonesia.Turut hadir mewakili GPTD adalah saudara Kamarul Arifin Mohd Wafa dan isterinya, saudara Mujahid dan saudara Khairul untuk membuat jaringan GPTD ke seluruh dunia Melayu dan Dunia Islam. Program ini telah dianjurkan oleh Sekretariat Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI)

New Recruitment in Dar-Al-Hikmah College (KDH) in Kajang



Sept 15, 2005 - Kajang, Selangor Darul Ehsan - An Introduction session between GPTD Coordinator, Bro. Jufitri Joha with a new GPTD recruitments in Dar-Al-Hikmah College (KDH) in Kajang had been conducted in order to give clear picture on GPTD. There were 19 students attended at that session under the coordination of the GPTD Exco members namely Farah Wahida, Fatimah, Shahril and Anas. Those who were present been invited to attend GPTD-GPM Volunteer Workshop this Saturday whereby they will get a lot of knowledge to become a great volunteer.

Pak Cik Jamalon Struggles For Malays In Sri Lanka



Sept 14, 2005 - GPM Office, Kuala Lumpur - Pak Cik Jamalon, GPTD adopt father in Sri Lanka came to Malaysia and took opportunity to visit our GPTD Sri Lanka activists. He spent his time in Malaysia to seek financial assistant and other aid to strengthen Malays activities in Sri Lanka. Although his age reached 60 something, but he still looking energetic immensely to struggle for the betterment of Malays in Sri Lanka. There is approximately 60 000 Malays people living in Sri Lanka nowadays. InsyaAllah this year GPTD will send second delegation to Sri Lanka in order to help them by providing skills such as sewing, cooking, Malay language class and other. This is GPTD new and effective ways of Dakwah in inviting people come back to Islam.(See picture above:Pak Cik Jamalon (3 from left) while in Sri Lanka during GPTD Malay Language Camp,GPTD Coordinator (Most right)). Pak Cik Jamalon always shows his concern towards the survival of Malays. What will happen to Malays in Sri Lanka for the coming 10 years if no action been taken to solve various problems and situations that they are facing nowadays.

Visit From Mecca Malays Community



Sept 13, 2005 - Anjung Rahmat,- GPTD and ABIM received a visit from Pak Lah (See picture: Pak Lah in the middle) and his Family, Malays folk from Mecca. Welcoming remark had been given by ABIM President, Bro. Yusri Mohamad and GPTD Coordinator, Bro. Jufitri Joha. During GPTD research on last April 2005, Pak Lah hosted and offered to us his house for our accomodation. Pak Lah and his family helped us a lot in order to make our research in Mecca succes. Now GPTD Mecca plans its next research on Hajj InsyaAllah this coming Hajj month.

Educational Visit to ATMA UKM (ZIGO)


Sept 9, 2005 - Bangi, Selangor Darul Ehsan - The educational visit to The Institute of the Malay World and Civilization (ATMA), Malaysia National University (UKM) was very beneficial and interesting one. The delegation of GPTD led by Jufitri Joha (GPTD Coordinator) got warm welcome from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supyan Hussin, the Senior Research Fellow of ATMA. Dr. Supyan delivered a short briefing on ATMA and its function. Dr. Supyan said that, ATMA had succesfully produce one informative portal on Malay world study that been used by the researchers all over the world to dig the materials which are closely related to the Malay world. Prof. Dr. Noriah Mohamed, ATMA Senior Research Fellow presented a token of appreciation, Cd entitled Malay History produced by ATMA to the delegation of GPTD. Wali Songo Talk



Sept 11, 2005 - Anjung Rahmat, Kuala Lumpur - Dr. Anis Malik Toha presented the history of Wali Songo (The Nine Saints of Java) and their methods of da'wah. Dr. Anis who is now lecturing at International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) did his bachelor short thesis entitled "Islamic Government of Demak, Its Effect in Spreading Islam in Java". He presented Wali Songo based on his thesis whereby Wali Songo were playing important da'wah and politic roles during the ruling Islamic Government of Demak. One important point is Sunan Kali Jaga used a very attractive and effective method in inviting people to Islam by preserved and utilized the local traditional art namely "Wayang Kulit". So, Wayang Kulit become the entry point for local people to embrace Islam voluntarily. This program organized by GPTD & Student Association (PKPIM) and Islamic Student Association of Southeast Asia (PEPIAT) became as the co-organizer. Also present were GPTD coordinator, Jufitri Joha and PEPIAT Sec. Gen., Suhail Ahmad.

Visit to Al-Ansar TV Channel

Sept 1, 2005 - , Plaza Imbi, Kuala Lumpur - GPTD visited Al-Ansar TV Channel in Plaza Imbi Kuala Lumpur. Al-Ansar TV is a channel under MITV. MITV a new private TV station like ASTRO will be launched on September 5, 2005 by our Prime Minister, Pak Lah. Meanwhile Al-Ansar TV is the first Muslim channel in Malaysia, Ansar delivers healthy fusion entertainment and edutainment based programs for the urban Muslim youths and adults. Ansar features local and international musicals, documentaries, short films, animations, dramas magazine shows and more.

During our discussion with Mr.Nazir Idris, the Director of Programming & Production, they agreed to give us opportunity and space to show ABIM, GPTD and other Muslim NGOs social service activities to the MITV customers and audiences. The most important, is to potray Islamic social service and how kind the muslims are to the mankind.

JW03 Reunion Meeting



Sept 1, 2005 - GPTD Office, Kuala Lumpur - Jejak Warisan Team 2003 (JW03) to Christmas Island had agreed upon certain matters during their recent reunion meeting. Among them are, 1.) To send a new GPTD delegation to Christmas Island, Australia, 2.) To keep in touch with the folks there especially the important contact such Ust Ghaffar (the Imam) etc, 3.) To send Hari Raya greeting card during this coming Ramadhan, 4.) To organize gathering for JW03 during Hari Raya and Noryzal (GPTD activist in Tasmania) Wedding Ceremony on Disember. Those who present in the meeting were Bro.Azwiralbukhairi, Bro.Noryzal, Bro.Jufitri and Sis. Huraizah.
