Atlas Corps

Atlas Corps is a designated J-1 program that brings nonprofit leaders from around the world to the U.S. for a year of nonprofit training and development. After one year of volunteering in the U.S., the Fellows return to their home countries. Atlas Corps has been declared a "best practice" in international exchange by the Brookings Institution and is honored to have on its Senior Advisory Board distinguished individuals such as three-time U.S. Ambassador William Brownfield and former U.S. Senator Harris Wofford. It places nonprofit leaders at many of the best nonprofits in the world, such as Ashoka, Grameen Foundation, Oxfam and TechnoServe. Former Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, Maura Harty, who is now with the International Center for Missing and Exploited Children, has two of our Fellows placed at her organization and is looking for more to start in March. It has had 31 Fellows from 8 countries participate in our program, and we have a 100% approval rating on visas and 100% of our Fellows have returned to their home countries.

We are seeking nominations for rising leaders with 3-10 years of nonprofit experience, a college degree, and English proficiency. These individuals are a lot like the Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) candidates, but are often a little younger, and former travel to the U.S. is accepted. Atlas Corps is a fully funded fellowship; there is no cost to apply or participate. The fellowship is 12 months long and includes a rigorous training program and an on-the-job training placement. Any nonprofit leader may apply at atlascorps (dot) org. Last year it had 550 candidates from 67 countries apply for 13 positions.

The deadline for the next group is April. ABIM wish to nominate candidate.
